Game 144 lineups: Nats at Phillies

PHILADELPHIA - Hello from Citizens Bank Park, where it is currently ... raining. Ah, there's a certain sense of comfort in traveling away from home but still feeling like you're home. The forecast actually doesn't look terrible for tonight: a 30 percent chance of showers. By Nationals standards of late, that's downright beautiful!

The Nationals arrive here weary from a ridiculously long weekend against the Cubs that included three games played in two days, two postponements and a final out recorded at 1:42 a.m. The Phillies haven't had to deal with anything quite like that, but they've got a more pressing matter: They're falling apart right now. Philly is 6-14 since Aug. 18, the worst record in the National League. Yikes.

Fedde-Throws-Gray-Sidebar.jpgThe Nats, who technically are on a two-game winning streak, will send Erick Fedde to the mound for tonight's series opener. His stuff was quite good for four innings when he faced the Cardinals last week, but then he fell apart in the fifth. His challenge tonight: sustain some success and go deeper in the game.

The challenge for the Nationals lineup, which includes just minted NL Player of the Week Bryce Harper: Do some damage to Jake Arrieta and make the Phillies start to sweat even more. (Oh, and also try to play nine innings as scheduled without delay. Good luck with that.)
