And we're back, for the nightcap of today's doubleheader against the Dodgers. The Nationals didn't get much going at the plate in the opener against Ross Stripling, and now they'll have to try to get back on track tonight against Rich Hill, with Howie Kendrick no longer available. Kendrick suffered what looked like a serious right lower leg injury in the top of the eighth this afternoon, and though there's no immediate diagnosis - he was headed to get an MRI before the game ended - Davey Martinez and Co. certainly reacted like they expect him to miss significant time.
So it'll be Andrew Stevenson in left field tonight, batting ninth, with Wilmer Difo at second base, batting second. Bryce Harper moves down to the third spot, ahead of Anthony Rendon and Mark Reynolds.
Max Scherzer is on the mound, finally making a start he prepared to make Wednesday night (against the Yankees). We'll see if all the extra rest was beneficial or harmful to Scherzer, who should be good for well north of 100 pitches if needed.
