Game 60 lineups: Nats vs. Mets

No, the Nationals' season finale doesn't really mean anything in the big picture. They were eliminated from postseason contention earlier in the week. And the Mets were eliminated Saturday, so they don't have anything to play for, either. But there are still a few things of note at stake when the two teams take the field today for the final time in 2020.

The Nationals enter at 25-34, the Mets at 26-33. So if the Nats win, they'd end up tied for fourth place in the National League East. (And since the Nats would have won the season series, 6-4, they'd have a claim for being slightly better than the Mets this season.)

soto-trots-home-white-gold-sidebar.jpgOn an individual level, today's game could mean a lot for Juan Soto, who enters the afternoon leading the NL in batting average (.346), on-base percentage (.485), slugging percentage (.693) and OPS (1.177). No Nationals player has ever won the batting title. Soto could do it today if he can hold off Freddie Freeman, who enters with a .343 batting average.

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone for following along, reading and commenting this season. It's certainly been a different experience than we've all been used to. Hopefully, you've still been able to enjoy the coverage. And here's hoping things look a lot more normal next season, on and off the field!
