The Nationals usually play Sunday home games at 1:35 p.m. Except for the day after their annual Dream Foundation Gala. Wanting to give everyone some extra time to, uh, recover from that evening event, they push back the following day's game until 4:05 p.m. It makes sense. Except on a day like today, when the skies are forecasted to be dry early in the afternoon before turning ominous late in the afternoon. Oh well, nothing they can do about that now but wait and see how the weather turns out come gametime.
If they play, Max Scherzer will be on the mound, and the Nationals certainly need a typical Scherzer start from him after watching their starters fail to complete four innings in three of their last five games, either due to injury (Jeremy Hellickson, Stephen Strasburg) or ineffectiveness (Gio Gonzalez).
There are roster moves coming, possibly two of them. We know Strasburg is going on the DL with shoulder inflammation. Brandon Kintzler, who is scheduled to get an MRI on his forearm this morning, could be headed there as well. Trevor Gott is here at Nationals Park and figures to fill one of those opening roster spots. We'll wait and see if there's another.
