Harper out of Nats lineup for second straight day

The Nationals had hoped that Bryce Harper would be able to return to the lineup today after having minor surgery on Thursday night to remove an ingrown toenail. Instead, Harper is out of the Nats' lineup for the second straight game. Manager Davey Johnson said this afternoon that Harper's big toe is still sore after having an ingrown portion of the nail removed two days ago. "Harp's still a little tender," Johnson said. "He wanted to wait until he hit on the field, and if it's that tender, I'm not starting him. So he's not in the lineup." Roger Bernadina will man right field again today against the Cubs, while Tyler Moore will play left. The Nats' batting order from 1-7 looks exactly as it did yesterday. The only changes today are that Wilson Ramos is behind the plate and Stephen Strasburg is on the mound. The Nats will face former teammate Edwin Jackson, who is off to a rough start to 2013 with the Cubs. Jackson is 0-5 with a 6.39 ERA. Strasburg is still in search of his first win since opening day. He's 1-4 with a 3.45 ERA on the season.
