HBO "Veep" Selina Meyer to race Nationals' Racing Presidents

On Tuesday, April 9 the Washington Nationals Racing Presidents will welcome the mascot of Vice President Selina Meyer, star of HBO's hit comedy series "Veep" as a guest competitor in the GEICO Presidents Race. Meyer will make her appearance at Nationals Park to promote season two of VEEP, which premieres on HBO on Sunday, April 14. Earlier today, Vice President Meyer accepted an invitation to partner with Teddy to challenge George, Tom, Abe and Bill in the first presidential relay of 2013. Selina will be the first television character to ever compete in the race. In addition, Meyer will be on hand to greet fans in Center Field Plaza before the Nationals take on the Chicago White Sox and will also participate in several Inside Pitch Live activities throughout the game. Developed in 2006, the Racing Presidents are 12-foot oversized mascots who race in the fourth inning GEICO Presidents Race during every Nationals home game. The popular figures can be seen promoting the team and its community efforts at Nationals Park and around the Washington region.
