Jordan Zimmermann aims for first win at Wrigley Field (game started)

After a bit of an unusual start to the season, right-hander Jordan Zimmermann has returned to his normal self to help lead the Nationals to victories in each of his last five starts. Zimmermann has pitched at least six innings and not allowed more than three earned runs in each of his last five outings. Zimmermann hasn't fared so well at Wrigley Field where he is winless in three career starts with a 6.27 ERA, though the last start came back in 2013.

The Nats will get their first look at Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks picked up his first win of the season last Thursday, firing a five-hit shutout against the Padres at Petco Field. The 25-year-old is 1-1 with a 4.14 ERA in eight starts this year.

Ian Desmond is riding a 10-game hitting streak into this evening. It's the second time this year that Desmond has hit safely in 10 straight. Over the most recent stretch, Desmond is hitting .325 with two homers, three doubles, seven RBIs and six runs scored.

The Nationals have won 11 of their last 14 games on the road, dating back to the epic 13-12 comeback win in Atlanta on April 28. A victory tonight gives the Nats nine consecutive series wins.
