Juan Soto named NL Player of the Week

Following a week in which he hit .462 (12-for-26) with one double, five home runs, 12 RBI, three walks, one stolen base and 12 runs scored in seven games during the week, Juan Soto was named National League Player of the Week on Monday. Major League Baseball made the announcement on MLB Network.

Soto, 21, led the National League in slugging percentage (1.077), OPS (1.610), home runs (5) and RBI (12) during the week. He hit safely in six of the seven games, drove in runs in five of the seven and produced multi-hit efforts in four of the seven. Soto recorded his first multi-homer game of 2020 (6th career) on Aug. 12 at New York (NL) as part of a 3-for-4 night at the plate.

Among players with at least 40 plate appearances, Soto leads Major League baseball in on-base percentage (.500), slugging percentage (.950), and OPS (1.450). In 11 games the season, he is 17-for-40 (.425) with three doubles, six homers, 14 RBI, five walks, one stolen base, and 13 runs scored and has hit safely in nine of the 11 games. Soto's six home runs are tied for fifth in the National League despite playing in only 11 games.

This is Juan Soto's first career Player of the Week award and is the first award taken home by a Nationals player so far in 2020.
