Lidge activated, Rodriguez lands on DL (Renda, Miller agree to terms)

Davey Johnson indicated in his pregame session with reporters that in addition to Tyler Moore being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse, another roster move might be on the way. That move was announced less than 20 minutes prior to today's first pitch. Reliever Brad Lidge has been reinstated from the disabled list, while fellow reliever Henry Rodriguez has landed on the 15-day DL with a strained right finger. Lidge missed the Nationals' last 38 games due to an abdominal injury which required hernia surgery. The righty had originally targeted the Nats' series at Toronto (starting June 11) for a return, but felt good enough after a rehab outing yesterday to be called up ahead of schedule. He recorded two saves and a 5.14 ERA in seven appearances with the Nats prior to going on the DL and allowed one run over 1 1/3 innings during a two-game rehab stint with Single-A Potomac. Rodriguez, meanwhile, has gone 1-3 with a 5.14 ERA and nine saves in 12 chances this season. lidge-blue-hat-sidebar.jpgHe hurt his finger slamming it into a bathroom door while on the Nats' last road trip. His DL stint will be retroactive to June 6, and this stretch will allow him to heal physically and (hopefully) mentally. On a separate topic, Nats scouting director Kris Kline said that the team has already agreed to terms with a number of their draft picks, including second-round second baseman Tony Renda (Cal-Berkeley) and fourth-round outfielder Brandon Miller (Samford). Kline also expects the Nats' third-round pick, Stanford left-hander Brett Mooneyham, to sign "relatively quickly." Byron Kerr will have much more from Kline over at his blog in a bit.
