The Nationals get their first look at brand-new Marlins Park in Miami today, after playing an ESPN "Sunday Night Baseball" game in Atlanta last night. It's a quick turnaround made easier by the fact that Memorial Day dawns with the Nats in first place in the NL East.
The only change in today's lineup is the presence of catcher Carlos Maldonado instead of Jesus Flores behind the plate. Flores sustained a mild right hamstring strain in the finale of the Braves series, and gets today off, though Maldonado was already scheduled to catch Jordan Zimmermann in this afternoon's game.
While Flores may escape the disabled list, Chad Tracy may not. Tracy injured his groin running out a double Saturday night. Tomorrow, he will visit the specialist who performed his double sports hernia surgery in November.
Outfielder Corey Brown joined the Nationals in Miami and a move to place Tracy on the DL is expected before first pitch.
Here's the Nationals lineup for today:
LF - Steve Lombardozzi
RF - Bryce Harper
3B - Ryan Zimmerman
1B - Adam LaRoche
SS - Ian Desmond
2B - Danny Espinosa
CF - Rick Ankiel
C - Carlos Maldonado
P - Jordan Zimmermann
And for the Marlins:
SS - Jose Reyes
2B - Omar Infante
3B - Hanley Ramirez
RF - Giancarlo Stanton
1B - Logan Morrison
CF - Bryan Petersen
C - John Buck
LF - Chris Coghlan
P -Carlos Zambrano
Update: The roster move is official. Tracy goes to the 15-day DL and the Nats purchase the contract of Brown from Triple-A Syracuse. To make room for Brown on the 40-man roster, outfielder Jayson Werth has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
Also, outfielder Michael Morse will begin a minor league rehabilitation assignment at Single-A Potomac on Tuesday. He's still aiming to return Friday from a lat injury that has had him on the DL all season.
