"MASN All Access" podcast: Byron Kerr on Nats' rebound

The Nationals are back on track and Byron Kerr of MASNsports.com is back on your airwaves!

The Nationals were able to take two of three from the Braves to rebound from getting swept at home by the Mets. Byron, formally of the late "District 34" podcast, joins Paul and I to discuss how the Nats turned things around this week with stellar outings from Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg.

We first touch on Byron's recent story on Matt Adams' value to his new team after the left-handed backup first baseman delivered a clutch game-tying home run on Wednesday to extend the game against the Braves. How has Adams, who was signed to replace Adam Lind, proved his worth so far and how has he provided an example to the younger players?

MAA-podcast-logo-sidebar.jpgAnd what's a Nationals podcast without discussing Bryce Harper's strong start? Just 12 games into the final season of his contract, Harper has shown he's not only one of the best players on this team, but also in all of baseball. But who else on this Nationals roster needs to step up to help out an offense that has been slow out of the gate? And how might Davey Martinez's lineup construction contribute to the cause?

The catching situation has also been a little out of whack as of late. The emergence of Pedro Severino during Matt Wieters' disabled list stint and Miguel Montero's time on the paternity list put the Nationals in a tough spot, which ended with Montero being designated for assignment. Has Severino's time with the big league club finally come?

And last but not least, Byron gives us a take on the return of a former D.C. fan favorite, Ian Desmond, as the Nationals and Rockies open a four-game set at Nats Park. Hear what Byron had to say about covering a former player who is returning to his old team, and check out Byron's blog later to see what Desmond himself had to say. And be sure to give Byron a follow on Twitter (@masnKerr) for all the latest happenings at Nats Park.
