Michael A. Taylor, Anthony Rendon homer in Nats' 6-1 win

The Nationals lost a quality scoring opportunity in the first. Jayson Werth led off with a single and Anthony Rendon followed with a walk. Bryce Harper then blistered a ball to deep center that Shane Peterson made a sensational diving catch on. Werth tagged, but Peterson's throw nailed him at third for the second out. Ryan Zimmerman struck out to end the inning.

With two outs in the second, Wilson Ramos delivered a two-out base knock to left. Michael A. Taylor then smashed Taylor Jungmann's 92 mph fastball high into the seats in the right-center field alley for a two-run homer. It was Taylor's third tater in the last three games. The rookie now has 13 longballs on the season.

Update: The Nats added three runs in fourth. Danny Espinosa sparked the rally with a single to left. Ramos then belted a double down the left field line, scoring Espinosa all the way from first.

Taylor followed with a walk, and after Joe Ross struck out, Werth flared a two-out RBI single to center.

Rendon then drilled a double down the left field line, scoring Taylor easily, but Werth was nailed at the plate on the play.

Update II: Khris Davis drove a hanging slider from Ross over the left field wall to put the Brewers on the board in the seventh.

Rendon answered in the bottom of the frame with a solo shot to deep left-center field. It was Rendon's second homer of the season.

Ross allowed one run on six hits with no walks and four strikeouts. He threw 82 pitches.

Update III: Left-hander Matt Thornton finished off the Brewers in the ninth.

The Nats beat the Brewers 6-1.
