Nationals recall 1B/OF Tyler Moore from Syracuse, place C Carlos Maldonado on DL

The Washington Nationals today recalled first baseman/outfielder Tyler Moore from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League and placed catcher Carlos Maldonado on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to May 30, with a lower back strain. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement. Moore has played in 12 games this season with Washington, going 3-for-19 at the plate. The 25-year-old batted .310 with six doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 26 RBI, 11 walks and 15 runs scored in 28 games with Syracuse. Moore has 71 home runs and 228 RBI during his last three seasons (2010-12) in the minor leagues. Washington's 2010 Minor League Player of the Year, he posted back-to-back 31-homer campaigns in 2010-11 and paced the Nationals system in RBI each season from 2009-11. Maldonado, 33, has appeared in four games this season with Washington.
