The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Taylor Hill on Wednesday and optioned right-handed pitcher Taylor Jordan to Triple-A Syracuse. President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Hill, 26, returns to the Nationals for his third stint of the season. In six games at the Major League-level this season (12.0 IP), Hill is 0-0 with a 3.75 ERA. In four of his six appearances out of the Nationals' bullpen, Hill has worked multiple innings.
In 12 starts for Triple-A Syracuse this season Hill is 3-3 and has posted a 4.68 ERA. He's allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 12 International League outings and struck out 35 batters while walking 12 (2.91 K/BB).
Jordan, 26, is 0-2 with a 6.43 ERA in three Major League games this season. The right-hander threw 3.1 shutout innings over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night, allowing just two hits and striking out three, in relief of Max Scherzer.
