Nationals recall right-hander Blake Treinen

The Washington Nationals today recalled right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement. Treinen, 26, rejoins the Nationals for the fifth time this season. In nine Major League games (five starts), Treinen is 1-3 with a 2.29 ERA. In 35.1 innings, Treinen has allowed just nine earned runs. Treinen's last Major League appearance came on June 28, when he helped the Nationals sweep a doubleheader from the Chicago Cubs by earning his first MLB win in the nightcap. Treinen held the Cubs to two earned runs over 5.0 innings in the 7-2 victory. With Syracuse this season, Treinen is 7-1 with a 3.09 ERA and he has held opponents to a .248 batting average.
