Nationals release 2014 schedule

The Nationals will open their 2014 season with 15 straight games against division opponents, the first three of which will be in New York against the Mets. After kicking off the season on the road, the Nats will return for their home opener on Friday, April 4, to be played against the Braves. The Nats have an 11-game homestand - their longest of the season - in April, including four games apiece against the Cardinals and Padres, and a three-game interleague series against the Angels. Other interleague matchups will include the rest of the teams in the American League West. The Nats will have three-game series against the Athletics (road), Rangers (home) and Mariners (road), as well as a home-and-home series against the Astros. That will allow for a reunion with former Nats bench coach Bo Porter, who now manages in Houston. The Nats will also have a home-and-home series with the Orioles in July, with two games coming in D.C. July 7-8 and then two games at Camden Yards July 9-10. The All-Star break will be July 14-17. The Nats will close the season with 23 straight games within the division, the final six of which will come at home, with three against both the Mets and Marlins.
