Nats losing ground in All-Star Game voting

The Nationals have made very little progress in the voting for the 2014 All-Star Game.

Since the first release of balloting figures on May 28, Washington has seen just two players with a shot at making the National League's starting lineup on July 15 at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Now just one remains.

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper stands alone as the only Nationals player vying for a starting gig, and he hasn't played in more than a month. Harper has moved up one spot in the most recent figures, and now sits in 14th place among NL outfielders with 435,075 votes.

The young outfielder has been plagued by a torn ligament in his left thumb this season, and is now rehabbing from surgery. Harper played in 22 games before his injury and was hitting .289/.352/.422 with nine RBIs. He's not expected to return to the lineup until early July.

The Las Vegas native does have a chance to appear in the 2014 Home Run Derby, as he is one of 10 candidates eligible to be selected by fans. Harper made it to the final round last year, but narrowly lost to the A's Yoenis Cespedes.

Anthony Rendon had been listed among the top five vote-getters at second base, but he's fallen back in the balloting.

Voters will have the opportunity to elect their favorite starting players up to 25 times at MLB.com until Thursday, July 3 at 11:59 p.m. The 2014 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show will be held during the weekend of July 5-6.
