Rays acquire DeJesus from Nats (Solano, Cedeno officially recalled)

David DeJesus has another new team. Just days after joining the Nationals, DeJesus has been acquired by the Tampa Bay Rays. DeJesus joined the Nationals on Monday, only to be put on revocable trade waivers just hours later. The Rays put in a claim and the teams were able to work out a deal before Friday's 1 p.m. Eastern time deadline. The Tampa Bay Times was the first to report the acquisition. DeJesus played in three games with the Nats, and went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice in four plate appearances. Left-hander Xavier Cedeno will take his place on the 25-man roster. More details to come. Update: According to the Nationals, the team will receive a player to be named or cash consideration in exchange for DeJesus. Update II: The Nats have officially recalled Cedeno and catcher Jhonatan Solano from Triple-A Syracuse, bringing their active roster back to 25. Solano, 28, has hit .239 (17-for-71) in his big league career, with five doubles, two home runs and eight RBI in 28 games for the Nationals. He was batting .214 with seven doubles in 40 games with Syracuse this season. This will be Cedeno's fourth stint with the Nats this season, but he's appeared in just two games in his previous three times with the Nats, working a scoreless 1 1/3 innings. Acquired off waivers from the Astros on April 23, Cedeno will give the Nats a fresh bullpen arm, which they greatly need after playing 13 innings yesterday with a short bullpen. Left-hander Ian Krol was sent down to Syracuse on Wednesday to make room for Ross Ohlendorf on the active roster, and after that roster move, the Nats had just six relievers at their disposal on the active roster. Cedeno has gone 2-0 with four saves and a 1.47 ERA in 36 appearances for Syracuse this season.
