Rendon's second thoughts

Anthony Rendon didn't torment himself watching the rest of the postseason play out after the Nationals were eliminated in the National League Division Series. He's played some golf and immersed himself in basketball season, tuning in on his hometown Houston Rockets via DirecTV to take some of the sting away from the Nats' disappointing first-round ouster. "I guess (seeing the Giants win) made it a little bit easier, I guess, for me," he said at NatsFest. "Might be terrible to say, but you can say you lost to the eventual World Series champs. But either way, a loss is a loss and it sucks." Depending on whether the Nationals acquire a second baseman via trade or free agency, Rendon could be playing either second or third base next year. He has played both positions with Washington, beginning last season at second and moving to third base pretty much full-time when Ryan Zimmerman was injured. I try to play wherever they tell me to play and wherever I can help the team, I'm all for it." Rendon said there's really not a lot of difference in his offseason conditioning regimen for playing either of his two possible positions. "It doesn't affect me a lot," he said. "It's still the same. Still trying to get in great shape, still trying to be mobile, be the best I can be." And if he had the choice of which position he manned? "I feel like I feel more comfortable at third base, but I really have no preference," Rendon said. "As long as I have a bat in my hand, I feel the most comfortable there."
