Rockies win offensive battle, split series with Nats

The Nationals trailed 7-0 after two innings. We're now tied 9-9 in the bottom of the fifth. The way I see it, we can take three main things out of what we've seen over these last three games: Coors Field is a fun place for hitters to spend their time, the Nationals' offense has potential to do some big things the rest of this season and the Rockies are a terrible ballclub. The Nats have gotten two monster innings this afternoon, getting five runs in the third inning and four runs in the fifth. They benefited from a throwing error by Rockies third baseman Chris Nelson, turning what could have been an inning-ending double play into a first-and-third situation with just one out. Two batters after the Nelson error, which came with the score 9-6 Rockies, the game was tied. Adam LaRoche's sac fly and Ian Desmond's two-run homer to right knotted things up. Desmond's homer came off his brother-in-law Josh Roenicke. That'll make for an interesting Thanksgiving dinner conversation. Whose bullpen can actually put up some zeros? This game is now there for the taking. Update: Just three outs from defeat, Bryce Harper hit a baseball very far over some fencing they set up in right field. Harper's solo home run - an absolute bomb off the back wall of the Rockies' bullpen - has tied this game 10-10. This is the first time the Nats have ever scored 10 runs in three straight games and marks the first time the franchise has reached that feat since the Expos did it on June 1995. Update II: After battling back from a 7-0 deficit, the Nats dropped this one in extras 11-10. Marco Scutaro hit a RBI single in the bottom of the 11th to give the Rockies a series split. Craig Stammen is tagged with his first loss of the season. Tough one at Coors Field.
