VIERA, Fla. - Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone. To celebrate the occasion, the Nationals today are wearing Kelly green caps and special white jerseys with green trim. Dusty Baker said they also were serving cabbage in the clubhouse. Really getting into the spirit.
Anyways, today's game features the vast majority of the Nats' regular lineup, with only first base (Clint Robinson) and shortstop (Trea Turner) perhaps occupied by someone who won't be there on April 4. Ryan Zimmerman, who made his spring debut at first base yesterday in Jupiter, is back in the lineup but serving as the designated hitter today. He's scheduled to play seven innings at first base tomorrow night against the Mets.
Stephen Strasburg is on the mound, scheduled for four innings or 65 pitches against a split-squad Braves lineup that still includes notorious Nationals killer Freddie Freeman. Just go ahead and pencil in three hits for Freeman. It's basically a lock. Nats relilevers on the docket today include Yusmeiro Petit, Shawn Kelley, Sean Burnett and Jonathan Papelbon.
