Tracy activated, Brown optioned to Triple-A

If you were looking for the Nationals to make a move before the trade deadline, you're in luck. OK, it's not a trade, but it is a roster move. The Nats announce that they have activated infielder Chad Tracy from the disabled list and optioned outfielder Corey Brown to Triple-A Syracuse. Tracy landed on the DL all the way back on May 28 with a right adductor strain. He's missed the last 55 games, and still somehow is tied for the second-most pinch-hit RBIs in the majors. In many ways, this is as good as a trade for the Nationals. They get back their top pinch hitter and improve their left-handed pop off the bench. The 32-year-old Tracy was a valuable late-inning presence early in the season. The original "Goon Squad" member batted .265 with three doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI in 32 games prior to his DL stint. Over his 12-game rehab stint split between Single-A Potomac and Syracuse, Tracy hit .351 with one homer and five RBIs. Brown is hitting .188 with one home run and two RBIs with the Nats this season. He notched his first major league hit - a solo home run - in Milwaukee during the Nationals' last road trip.
