The 35-year-old Werth will also lose his driver's license as a result of the verdict.

Werth was cited on July 6 by a Virginia state trooper for driving his two-door Porsche at 105 mph in a posted 55 mph zone on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. on a Sunday morning while the Nationals were in the midst of a three-game home series against the Cubs. Werth hit .292 with 16 homers and 82 RBIs in 147 games last season as the Nationals won their second National League East title in three years.

Update: The Nationals have released this statement from general manager Mike Rizzo on Werth's legal issues: "We are aware of the judge's ruling today. Jayson has cooperated fully with the authorities throughout this process. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we are unable to comment any further at this time."
