It's perfectly dry and sunny here at Nationals Park at the moment, but I had to dodge some huge rain drops on my drive to the stadium a bit ago.
The radar for tonight shows mostly clear skies around first pitch, but there are also patches of rain that could swoop through.
Let's hope for the best as the Nationals and Tigers try and get in the opener of this two-game series after last night's rain out.
Despite the dry conditions at the moment, Davey Johnson's lineup for tonight still does not include Jayson Werth, who has missed the Nats' last three games with a tight right hamstring.
Johnson said yesterday that if the conditions were good, Werth would be in the Nats' lineup today. The threat of rain might be an issue, however, as the Nats don't want Werth slipping on a wet field and aggravating the hamstring injury.
Another factor here could be that Werth has really struggled against tonight's Tigers starter, Anibal Sanchez.
In 30 career at-bats against Sanchez, Werth has just five hits (one was a home run). He's walked just once and struck out 19 times.
If you're going to give a guy a day off, it might as well be when he's set to face a pitcher who has struck him out 63 percent of the times he's faced him.
