Zimmerman hits DL, Walters recalled from Triple-A (plus updated Nats lineup)

ATLANTA - Ryan Zimmerman was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Nationals this morning with a broken right thumb and is expected to be out for four to six weeks. While the Nats will miss their slugging third baseman, they'll at least get right fielder Jayson Werth back in the starting lineup this afternoon for the 1:35 p.m. series finale against the Braves.

Werth tweaked his groin in Friday's loss to the Braves, and was out of yesterday's starting lineup, though he pinch-hit.

To take Zimmerman's place on the 25-man roster, the Nats recalled infielder Zach Walters from Triple-A Syracuse, where he was hitting .290 with three doubles, a triple and three RBIs. It's the second stint in the majors for the 24-year-old Walters, who batted .375 (3-for-8) after a September callup last season.

For today, the Nats will employ Anthony Rendon at third base and use Danny Espinosa as their second baseman.

Here's today's lineup:

3B Anthony Rendon
CF Nate McLouth
RF Jayson Werth
1B Adam LaRoche
SS Ian Desmond
LF Bryce Harper
2B Danny Espinosa
C Jose Lobaton
LHP Gio Gonzalez

Update: McLouth has been scratched, and the Nats have announced a new lineup. Harper moves from left field to center, with Kevin Frandsen taking over in left.
