A few afternoon notes

Major League Baseball released its full spring training schedule this afternoon, and if offers confirmation that the Orioles will play Triple-A Norfolk in a March 29 exhibition game at Harbor Park. First pitch is slated for 3:05 p.m. The Orioles break camp the previous day after a light workout in Sarasota. Their final Grapefruit League game is March 27 against the Rays at Ed Smith Stadium. Pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 13. The first full-squad workout is Feb. 19. Where has the winter gone? The Orioles also announced their minor league managers, coaches and staff. Check Steve Melewski's blog on MASNsports.com for full details, but I'll pass along that Ron Johnson is returning as Norfolk manager and Gary Kendall is back at Double-A Bowie. Johnson is the first Tides manager to lead the club to back-to-back winning seasons since Steve Swisher in 1990 (79-67) and 1991 (77-65), according to a tweet from Norfolk. Kendall is the first Baysox manager to return for a fourth season, according to a tweet from Bowie. Ryan Minor moves back down to low Single-A Delmarva as manager, where he will be joined by pitching coach Alan Mills, who moves up from short-season Single-A Aberdeen. Luis Pujols will manage at high Single-A Frederick after guiding Delmarva last summer. Matt Merullo returns to Aberdeen and Orlando Gomez returns to the Gulf Coast League team. Former shortstop and current MASN analyst Mike Bordick will serve as a special assignment instructor. I wrote previously that Scott Beerer will serve as a roving outfield/baserunning instructor. The Orioles' March 31 season-opener against the Boston Red Sox at Camden Yards will air on MASN and ESPN 2. And finally, the Baseball Writers' Association of America issued the following statement regarding Dan Le Batard, who gave his Hall of Fame ballot to Deadspin and allowed fans to vote: "The BBWAA Board of Directors has decided to remove Dan Le Batard's membership for one year, for transferring his Hall of Fame ballot to an entity that has not earned voting status. The punishment is allowed under the organization's constitution. "In addition, Le Batard will not be allowed to vote on Hall of Fame candidates from this point on. "The BBWAA regards Hall of Fame voting as the ultimate privilege, and any abuse of that privilege is unacceptable."
