A few pregame notes and Royals lineup

Bench coach John Russell will manage the Orioles tonight in Kansas City while Buck Showalter attends his daughter Allie's graduation from law school at Southern Methodist University.

Director of player development Brian Graham will serve as bench coach. Graham will coach third base Tuesday in Pittsburgh while Bobby Dickerson attends his daughter Ashley's graduation.

Adam Jones is batting .469/.514/.938 against left-handed pitching this season, leading the majors in average, slugging and OPS (minimum 35 plate appearances), according to STATS. He ranks second behind the Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki in on-base percentage.

Chris Tillman's complete-game shutout last night was the first by an Orioles pitcher against the Royals since Scott Erickson on April 28, 2002 in Kansas City.

The Orioles are batting .281 in their 21 games away from home this season, leading the majors in road average, ranking third in slugging percentage (.430) and OPS (.760), and sixth in on-base percentage (.329).

The Orioles are 17-8 (.680) in night games in 2014, the best record in baseball.

Miguel Gonzalez will oppose Francisco Liriano on Tuesday when the Orioles open a two-game series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Chris Tillman will oppose Wandy Rodriguez on Wednesday.

Wei-Yin Chen, Bud Norris, Ubaldo Jimenez and Miguel Gonzalez are the scheduled starters for the four-game series against the Indians that begins Thursday at Camden Yards. Cleveland's starters are Josh Tomlin, Justin Masterson, Corey Kluber and Trevor Bauer.
