A look at the latest O's win and notes on the bullpen, Jones, Machado and more

The Orioles don't win every close game. It just feels like they do. They actually lost three one-run games on the West Coast trip. But the Orioles have now played three extra-inning games in their last four contests, winning in 10 innings twice against Seattle and winning in 12 last night. Manny Machado's first career walk-off homer ended it after 4 hours, 5 minutes. It's the O's third walk-off homer of the year. Chris Davis hit one as a pinch-hitter in the ninth on June 23 to beat the Chicago White Sox. Matt Wieters hit one May 1 in the bottom of the 10th of the second game of a doubleheader with Pittsburgh. The Orioles are 12-3 on the year in extra innings, winning eight in a row. They are 7-2 at home in extra frames and they are 36-12 in extras since 2012 when they went 16-2. In games that go 12 innings or longer, the Orioles are 15-4 since 2012. It was quite a way to start an important six-game homestand. A great turnout of 36,882 saw the O's pick up a win that maintained their American League East lead at 2 1/2 games over Toronto. More notes on the Orioles: * Machado went 2-for-6 with a double, homer and two RBIs. In 15 games since his suspension, he is batting .373 (22-for-59) with four doubles, four homers and 10 RBIs. * The Orioles bullpen combined for seven innings and gave up just one run. Over the last eight games, the O's bullpen has pitched to an ERA of 1.50. The Orioles tied a season-high using seven pitchers. * The Orioles won for the first time all year when they made two or more errors. They are now 1-6 in such games. * The Angels are 16-6 in their last 22 games. That includes a 1-3 record against the Orioles and a 15-3 record against everyone else. * Adam Jones' solo homer in the first inning was his 20th making this his fourth straight season with 20 or more. The last Oriole with four consecutive seasons of 20 or more homers was Rafael Palmeiro, who did that five years in a row from 1994-98. * Jones has now hit 10 homers in the first inning. It is easily his inning with the most homers. The next most is the three he has hit in the fourth and seventh. Over 86 at-bats in the first this year, Jones is batting .279 with 10 homers, 20 RBIs, a .663 slugging percentage and a .981 OPS. In the second game of the series tonight at Camden Yards, Kevin Gausman (4-3, 3.67 ERA) will make his first career start against the Angels and pitch against right-hander Garrett Richards (11-3, 2.62 ERA).
