Adam Jones on the All-Star possibility

With the selection of reserves for the All-Star teams coming up on Sunday, we'll know soon which Oriole or Orioles will make the American League squad. Most seem to be predicting that just one player from this team will make it, but there are several deserving candidates. They include Adam Jones, batting .294 with 14 doubles, 13 homers and 45 RBIs. "Personally, it's out of my hands," Jones said. "You know, we've got guys in here having helluva years. I'm just trying to do my part. We have other guys having good years. If I go, it's a blessing, if I don't, three days off in South Beach." He is batting .327 since May 2 and is hitting .318 with runners in scoring position. Jones said he wouldn't be the least upset if his vacation plans got changed. "Who wouldn't, anyone would like to go to the All-Star Game," said Jones. "You are playing with the best of the best at this current point. If I'm there, it's cool." Jones played in the 2009 game in St. Louis and his sac fly plated the winning run for the American League. He said he took a lot from that experience. "Just understanding how this game works," Jones said of his first time in the All-Star Game. "There are tremendous accomplishments that can be made, you have to go out and do it. Nothing is given. You think you put in a lot of hard work individually, but there are other guys doing the same if not more. It shows you the passion the players have." Now he just wants to finish off what's been a very solid first half for him. "I'm just trying to play the game hard and play it the right way and help my team win."
