Additional homer notes (Lee now out)

Another note or two on the Orioles home run outburst today after just watching Josh Bell single off the top of the fence in right, just missing his third homer of the day. Coming into this game, the O's had hit just one in their last five games and they hit four homers total over the last nine games. Then, they hit four today over the first four innings vs. a pitcher that had given up just nine all year. This is the O's 5th game this year with four or more homers: 5 Homers: May 1 vs. Boston & June 30 vs. Oakland. 4 Homers: July 20 vs. Tampa and August 10 vs. Cleveland. Also, Josh Bell is the fourth O's rookie to have a multi-homer game in the game where he homered for the first time in the Majors. The others are Jim Fuller in 1973, Curt Blefary in 1965 and Boog Powell in 1962. Cliff Lee has given up eight homers this year since his trade to the Rangers and seven to the Orioles. Lee left today's game after issuing his first walk this afternoon, to Brian Roberts in the sixth. He has now walked 11 batters this year (two intentional) and given up 13 homers. Lee is now out of the game. His line today: 5 2/3IP, 10H, 8R-ER, 1BB, 4K......108 pitches. Lee, who leads the AL with seven complete games, went just 5 2/3 today. It's the first time all year he did not complete at least six frames. The eight earned runs he allowed ties his career high, set three times previously, most recently on May 23, 2007 vs. KC while with Cleveland.
