AFL review: Kieboom again plays second, Braymer bounces back, Guilbeau shines

Shortstop Carter Kieboom went 0-for-2, scored a run and walked twice. Daniel Johnson played left field and went 0-for-4. He's hitting .083. Kieboom is at .154.

Left-hander Ben Braymer got tagged for four runs on four hits while recording only one out. He allowed three walks and struck out none. Left-hander Jordan Mills came on later and recorded four outs, allowing one hit with one walk and one strikeout. Mills ERA now 2.70.

Oct. 16: Salt River 2, Mesa 1

Right-hander Luis Reyes had his best outing so far with five scoreless frames, scattering two hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Catcher Tres Barrera went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .250. He also threw out a runner from his catching spot to second base.

Oct. 17: Salt River 6, Mesa 1

Kieboom again played second base, going 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. He has been playing second base at least once a week in AFL play. Johnson played right field and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Jake Noll manned third base and went 0-for-4.

Oct. 18: Salt River 2, Glendale 1 (10 innings)

Johnson led off and played center field, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. Kieboom played shortstop and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Braymer rebounded nicely with two innings of shutout baseball in which he struck out four and walked none. He allowed one hit. He dropped his ERA to 9.82. Taylor Guilbeau twirled four outs without allowing a run, a hit or a walk. Mills also provided two frames of scoreless baseball with three strikeouts. Mills' ERA is 1.69. Guilbeau is at 2.70.

Oct. 19: Glendale 1, Salt River 0.

Barrera went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. He again caught a runner attempting to steal at second base. The Rafters had five hits, but went 0-for-5 RISP.

Oct. 20: Peoria 6, Salt River 5.

Johnson went 1-for-3 with a double and a run in his best offensive game so far. He also walked once. Kieboom went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Noll went 0-for-4 and grounded into a double play.
