Another encouraging day for Wada

SARASOTA, Fla. - Orioles left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada estimated that he threw 15 pitches today in his third half-mound session this week. He remains scheduled to throw off a regular mound Monday for the first time since his ligament-reconstructive surgery in May. wada-stretching-tall.jpg"It felt the best today," he said through his interpreter/athletic trainer. Wada hasn't experienced any setbacks in his recovery from the surgery. "It's gradually getting better and better, day by day," he said. "Today was more like getting ready for Monday. That's the whole purpose for today's half-mound and it went well, so I'm happy about that." Wada hasn't been given a pitch count for Monday's session. "I still think it's a big step, but it's more like a beginning, too," Wada said. "I'm going to have to go through a lot of different steps to get back, too, and I know about that." Wada did some long-tossing again today before his side session, and he participated in conditioning drills afterward.
