Arrieta impressive again

I didn't see one pitch of the game, but Jake Arrieta was impressive in the box score again and is doing all he can to get a callup to Baltimore. Today he allowed just one run over seven innings as Norfolk bested Rochester, 2-1. He threw 112 pitches, 70 for strikes. Arrieta is now 5-2, 1.86 through ten starts. On the year, he has allowed 1 ER or less in six of his ten starts. He has now pitched 63 innings, allowing just 40 hits with 32 walks and 55 strikeouts. Lefty batters are hitting just .170 off him, right-handed batters are hitting .190 and the league average is .181 vs. Arrieta. He is 4-0, 0.97 in six home starts and has a 1.50 ratio of ground balls to fly balls. After going 9 for 16 over the last four games with five doubles, Josh Bell was 0 for 4 today. Brandon Snyder was 1 for 3 with a double and is 7 for 21 with four doubles and 6 RBI over his last six games. Danny Figueroa, who was added to the Tides roster Monday from Bowie, hit a two-run homer in the fifth for his first Triple-A hit. Now both Figueroa twin brothers, Danny and Paco, are on the Tides roster. After an off day Wednesday, Norfolk travels to Pawtucket Thursday to start an eight-game road trip. Chris George (1-1, 4.22) gets the start then.
