As O's continue to try to find arm and bat, rounding up the rest of the AL East

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - As the Winter Meetings come to a close, and the Orioles continue to look for pitching and a left-handed bat, here's what's going on with the other teams in the Americfan League East: BOSTON: The Red Sox lost center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury to the Yankees and picked up catcher A.J. Pierzynski to replace Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who signed with Miami. Manager John Farrell says he's confident in prospect Jackie Bradley Jr. in center, especially on defense, but Shane Victorino might be their center fielder. ... The Red Sox are watching the market for free agent shortstop Stephen Drew, a guy who didn't accept their qualifying offer of $14.1 million. If the price is right, the World Series champions will sign Drew to play short so that Xander Bogaerts, a postseason hero who started the season in the minor leagues, can play third. If not, Bogaerts will play short with Will Middlebrooks at third. NEW YORK: The Yankees have added outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Beltran and catcher Brian McCann, but they are still looking for rotation help and a second baseman. ... Yankees GM Brian Cashman said he might have to rely on non-roster invitees to fill the rotation, a la Freddy Garcia and Bartolo Colon in 2011. The Yankees don't appear to be impressed with free agents Ubaldo Jimenez, Ervin Santana and Matt Garza. ... There's talk that the Yankees will try to trade for Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips, but the Reds have told Phillips he's not going anywhere. ... The Yankees' questions include the comebacks of Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, CC Sabathia and Michael Pineda from injuries. TAMPA BAY: The Rays are in no hurry to trade pitcher David Price, who has two years left before he becomes eligible for free agency, but they are listening to teams that are interested. ... The Rays need a first baseman. They'd love to have James Loney back, but he wants a three-year, $30 million deal. The Rays like his defense and his contact hitting, but they're also trying to trade for the Mets' Ike Davis or the Rangers' Mitch Moreland. TORONTO: The Blue Jays, who made the big headlines last year when they acquired Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson in a trade from the Marlins, are looking for pitching and an upgrade at second base (Ryan Goins can play defense, but he can't hit.) ... The Blue Jays have two pitching prospects, Aaron Sanchez and Marcus Stroman, who are near ready for the majors, and they don't want to part with them. ... "We are going to be pretty much the same team we were last year,'' Blue Jays manager John Gibbons says. "We have the capability of playing better and contending with the roster we have.''
