Bergesen, more notes and Tigers lineup (corrected)

SARASOTA, Fla. - Brad Bergesen said he threw about 30 pitches off a bullpen mound today and is scheduled to pitch one or two innings on Wednesday. He's not sure whether that will take place at Twin Lakes Park or during the workout at the Ed Smith Stadium complex. "I threw all my pitches, regular bullpen, and I felt good," he said. "The plan is Wednesday throw one inning, two innings. I don't know exactly. But everything felt good. I feel fine to throw in a game." Bergesen threw only four pitches Friday before being hit on the right forearm by a Denard Span line drive. "There's that little bit of tenderness, but it feels fine to throw," he said. "Great news today." Bergesen doesn't know whether he'll start the April 3 game at Tropicana Field or be assigned to the bullpen and pitch on April 10. The third possibility is being optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. I wrote earlier that the Orioles have 30 players in camp, but that total will go down to 27 once infielder Brendan Harris is reassigned, left-hander Zach Britton is optioned and starter Justin Duchscherer is placed on the disabled list. The number shrinks to 26 once Rick VandenHurk officially comes off. Bergesen, Chris Tillman, Robert Andino and Craig Tatum appear to be the four players vying for the last spot. The Orioles are waiting to find out whether Mark Hendrickson accepts his assignment to Triple-A. He was one of the more difficult cuts for manager Buck Showalter. "It's really tough," Showalter said. "Mark's been in the big leagues for eight-plus years. He's quality, good father, good husband, solid human being. He's a professional, so it's tough, but I think he also kind of understands. I think he'll pitch in the big leagues this year. I hope it's for us, but I fully expect him to have some options, the same way I do with (David) Riske. I think when the smoke clears, Ryan Drese, when some of this gets out of the way, you'll see him do some things in Triple-A that he's capable of doing." Here's the Tigers lineup: Jackson CF Rhymes 2B Ordonez DH Cabrera 1B Raburn LF Wells RF Inge 3B Avila C Santiago SS Scherzer RHP
