Big week for Berken

It's shaping up to be a big week for Jason Berken in Birdland and beyond. First, he gets a T-shirt Tuesday at Oriole Park; now a player appearance at the new Sports Clips in White Marsh. Berken will sign autographs at the new Sports Clips location at the Avenue at White Marsh from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22. The Oriole Bird and former O's Scott McGregor, Rick Dempsey, and Dave Johnson will join Berken Thursday afternoon as well. The group of O's will help to celebrate the opening of the 700th Sports Clips store in the United States. As part of the celebration, the new store will attempt to set a Guinnes Record for haircuts by a team of 10 stylists (150 cuts). Haircuts will be $7, and money raised will be donated to the Orioles Charitable Fund. Also on Thursday, the Orioles will host nearly 5,000 students who worked with the "Learning with the Orioles" summer education program. OriolesREACH has teamed up with Baltimore City Public Schools for the second year in a row to support education initiatives for Baltimore youth. A new integrated summer learning curriculum based on Orioles baseball was combined with ticket donations, pregame ceremony recognition at Camden Yards for outstanding City Schools students and teachers, and player and Oriole Bird appearances at City Schools.
