Blown lead, blown save (good news on Brooks Robinson)

So much for my foot-on-their-throats suggestion. The Yankees scored once in the fifth, twice in the sixth and once in the seventh to reduce the Orioles' lead to 5-4. You had to know what was coming next. Kevin Gregg entered in the bottom of the ninth and lost the lead on one pitch. Jorge Posada, an all-or-nothing guy in the first two weeks of the season, homered to tied the game, 5-5.
Kevin Gregg talks about blowing his first safe of the season in a loss to the Yankees

A lost lead in the ninth inning at Yankee Stadium? When does that ever happen? I've lost count. Curtis Granderson followed with a double, but Gregg struck out the next two batters and retired Derek Jeter on a bouncer to short. Free baseball! Both teams have five runs and 10 hits. Only one has momentum. Only one could be staring at a four-game losing streak. On a much happier note, Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson was discharged today from Greater Baltimore Medical Center, which released the following statement on his behalf: "I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and outpouring of compassion and concern during my recent illness. The doctors, nurses and staff at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center did an outstanding job of caring for me and I am well on my way to a full recovery. "Connie and I were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support we received. The staff at GBMC assembled several books of e-mails received from around the world and we have spent countless hours reading your kind words of encouragement. We wish that we could personally respond to everyone with our gratitude."
