Bobby Bundy will move to Double-A Bowie for his next start

Right-handed pitcher Bobby Bundy, who has been one of the best starters in the Orioles minor leagues this year, will be promoted to Bowie soon and make his next start for the Double-A Baysox. The 21-year-old Bundy, the Orioles' eighth-round pick in 2008, is 11-5 with a 2.75 ERA over 20 starts at Single-A Frederick. In 121 innings, he allowed 102 hits with 31 walks, 100 strikeouts and a .230 batting average against. Over his last three starts for Frederick, Bundy has allowed just one earned run in 23 innings with two walks and 18 strikeouts. Bundy pitched 116 innings last year at Delmarva and the Orioles will probably not take him much past 150 this season. So, what innings he has left this year will be thrown at Double-A. His first Baysox start will likely be this coming Wednesday or Thursday. Bundy's brother Dylan, was the Orioles' first-round draft pick in June. Also, right-hander Jake Cowan, who is 0-4 with an ERA of 3.54 in nine starts with Aberdeen, is expected to make his next start with Delmarva. With Aberdeen, Cowan has fanned 48 batters over 48 1/3 with a .207 batting average against. With Frederick already in the playoffs, it is possible the Orioles could have Bundy return to the Keys and pitch some in the post-season if he still has some innings left. Bowie could also make the playoffs in the Eastern League. Meanwhile, Tyler Townsend, who has been out with a hamstring injury, could return to the Keys in about a week if he continues to make progress. Outfielder Trent Mummey, out since June 8 with a hamstring injury, could be about two weeks from returning to the Keys.
