Brooks Robinson apparently fine after falling at event

Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson fell off a stage tonight at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood Fla., where he was attending the Joe D Legends Classic. I'm told that he was coherent as paramedics transported him to a local hospital as a precaution. The fall was unrelated to Robinson's previous health issues. Robinson, 74, tumbled as he stood up to leave the stage, which sat a few feet above the floor. Earlier in the night, former Senators and Braves catcher Paul Casanova fell after being introduced to the crowd. I'm told that there was a curtain, but no railing, behind the stage. Former Orioles center fielder Paul Blair witnessed the incident and told an Orioles spokesman that Robinson appeared to be fine as paramedics attended to him. Robinson was scheduled to attend the annual Joe DiMaggio Legends Game Saturday at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. Proceeds from the event benefit Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood. I'll pass along any updates as they become available. In the meantime, keep a good thought for No. 5. Robinson looked terrific when I saw him last month at the Winter Meetings in Dallas. Hopefully, he'll be released from the hospital shortly and make a safe return home.
