Buck Showalter provides injury updates

Major League Baseball announced today that the American League Wild Card Game will be played on Oct. 6. The World Series starts on Oct. 27 in the AL representative's ballpark, and Game 7 would be played on Nov. 4.

Plan accordingly.

Matt Wieters ran the bases today and his right hamstring felt good. Manager Buck Showalter said Wieters will play on Tuesday "if there are no repercussions."

"It was as good a day for him as you could hope for," Showalter said.

"It's kind of like starting him over again," Showalter said.

Hunter Harvey, on the disabled list with a right flexor mass strain, threw a 25-pitch bullpen session today. Showalter said the session went well.

Mike Wright, sidelined by a strained calf muscle, threw off a half-mound today and will throw a normal bullpen session on Wednesday.

Chaz Roe's right shoulder has improved since he received a cortisone injection. He could throw in the bullpen later this week.

Dylan Bundy will have his right shoulder checked by Dr. James Andrews on Aug. 31.

Double-A Bowie pitcher Parker Bridwell received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow.

Showalter isn't concerned that Ryan Flaherty is hitless in his last 34 at-bats, the longest drought by an Oriole since 1974. Cal Ripken, Jr. was 0-for-33 in 2001.

"I think he knows what we think of him," Showalter said.
