The cloud of mystery over the Orioles rotation has lifted.
Dylan Bundy will start Sunday afternoon against the Diamondbacks in the final home game of the regular season. He told me earlier today that he felt fine, no injury concerns, and was waiting for his start date to become official.
Kevin Gausman is being pushed back due to some soreness in his intercostal that cropped up on Tuesday. The Orioles think they caught it in time, but they aren't taking any chances.
Bundy would have been pushed back if Gausman didn't have the intercostal issue. Manager Buck Showalter said it wouldn't be "smart" to start Gausman on regular rest.
Showalter said the discomfort should "manage itself." He also said a lack of fluids may have contributed to it.
Left-hander Jayson Aquino wasn't available tonight and he won't be able to pitch tonight due to an undisclosed health issue. It doesn't sound like an injury.
Update: The team says Aquino has a "viral infection."
The Orioles could summon a left-hander from their minicamp in Sarasota. T.J. McFarland, Kyle Lobstein and Edgar Olmos are throwing down there.
Third base coach Bobby Dickerson will manage in the Dominican Winter League. Triple-A Norfolk outfielder Dariel Alvarez will play in Venezuela.
The Orioles will play the Dominican Republic National Team in spring training.
