Can the O's bats get going tonight against John Lackey? (O's get early lead)

When the Red Sox got rained out at home last night against Tampa Bay, it meant that their scheduled starter for that game, John Lackey, would be pushed back to open the series tonight in Baltimore. The Orioles, who have scored just six runs over the last three games, going 1-for-17 with runners in scoring position, have their work cut out tonight. Lackey is 7-7 with a 2.95 ERA over 17 starts. He ranks eighth in the AL in ERA and is 10th in opponents' OBP (.291) and WHIP (1.16). Lackey allowed two earned runs or less in six straight starts until giving up four runs and 10 hits in his last start against the Yankees. He has a 2.74 ERA over those seven starts and is 2-2 with an ERA of 2.86 in four July starts. Lackey beat the Orioles this season on June 16 when he gave up seven hits and two runs over seven innings, throwing 101 pitches. He is 12-4 with a 3.31 ERA over 20 career starts vs. Baltimore. How tonight's O's lineup has fared vs. Lackey: Nate McLouth - 1-for-3 (.333) Manny Machado - 2-for-3 (.667) with an RBI Nick Markakis - 16-for-45 (.356) Adam Jones - 7-for-32 (.219) Chris Davis - 8-for-20 (.400) with a HR and 4 RBIs Matt Wieters - 5-for-21 (.238) J.J. Hardy - 2-for-10 (.200) Henry Urrutia - no at-bats Brian Roberts - 9-for-35 (.257) How do you see the O's doing tonight against the Red Sox right-hander? Well, so far: The Orioles moved out to a 3-0 lead tonight after three innings. With two outs and none on in the first, Nick Markakis singled and Adam Jones hit a two-run homer over the right-field scoreboard for the early lead. It was homer No. 21 for Jones and his fifth in the last 11 games. The O's made it 3-0 in the third. Nate McLouth tripled to right center for his third triple in the last seven games and fourth of the year. He scored on a Manny Machado RBI single to center off Lackey as Machado snapped a 1-for-17 stretch.
