Chen provides update

NEW YORK - Left-hander Wei-Yin Chen is in the visiting clubhouse at Yankee Stadium today, though he remains on the 15-day disabled list. Chen tossed seven scoreless innings yesterday in his final injury-rehab start at Double-A Bowie. In two games, he allowed four runs and nine hits in 12 innings, with two walks and eight strikeouts. Chen said he will throw a bullpen session on Saturday while waiting for the Orioles to decide when he's going to be activated. "I'm not quite sure right now because they told me there would be an extra day to rest, but I'm going to throw a bullpen tomorrow, so I don't know what's going to happen," Chen said through his interpreter, Tim Lin. "I'm definitely ready to pitch for my next start. Same approach to every game. Like last outing, I'm ready to pitch, but if they want to be safe, to pitch one more rehab game, I just go down there and get the job done. Right now, I'm coming back ready to do the job again. "I'm feeling good right now, so definitely I'm ready." Chen hasn't pitched since May 12 in Minnesota. He's 3-3 with a 3.04 ERA in eight games. "It's definitely part of baseball, but I definitely missing playing with my teammates and playing for the Orioles. I'm ready to come back and help the team to win," Chen said. "Every game I have the same approach like yesterday, even though I have a rehab assignment, but I still feel like I'm pitching in the major leagues, so definitely I'm mentally strong and ready to come back." Chen said his command was much better yesterday. "I attacked both sides of the plate," he said, "so that's probably the difference."
