Chen saves 'pen (O's win 4-3)

Wei-Yin Chen carried a one-run lead into the seventh tonight before Houston's Chris Carter led off the inning with a home run to left field.

Just like that, we're tied. And go ahead and insert your "all he does is hit home runs" joke.

Chen completed seven innings, tying his season high. He allowed two runs and five hits, walked one and struck out four. Chen threw 101 pitches, 67 for strikes.

That's a quality start, no matter the outcome.

Chen also worked seven innings on April 26 against Kansas City. He's allowed three runs or fewer in his last five starts.

Former Oriole Scott Feldman allowed two runs and five hits over six innings, with no walks and six strikeouts. He surrendered his first two home runs of the season.

The Orioles stranded two runners in the sixth when Matt Wieters flied out.

Manny Machado has committed three errors in eight games this season, but he's also made a handful of plays that remind you why he won the Platinum Glove last year.

Instant update: J.J. Hardy led off the bottom of the seventh with a double off reliever Jerome Williams, barely missing his first home run of the season, and scored with two outs on Jonathan Schoop's RBI single to center field.

Schoop comes through again from the ninth spot in the order.

Update II: Nick Markakis collected his third hit of the night, an RBI double that increased the lead to 4-2.

Not a good outing for Williams, who pitched the seventh only because Feldman was returning from biceps tendinitis and on a pitch limit. Feldman was removed after 88.

Chen is in line for the win. Darren O'Day will work the eighth inning.

Update III: O'Day gets a hold, Tommy Hunter gets his 11th save in 12 tries and the Orioles run their winning streak to four games with a 4-3 victory over the Astros before 28,875 at Camden Yards.

The Orioles (19-14) move to a season-high five games above .500. They're now 14-0 when leading after the seventh and 16-0 when leading after the eighth.

Hunter allowed a run after the Astros put runners on the corners with no outs, but it came on Carter's double play ball.

Still no 1-2-3 innings for Hunter this season, but he's 11-for-12 in save opportunities.

The Orioles are 14-6 in night games, tops in the majors.
