Dipoto expected to be interviewed this weekend

The Orioles received permission to interview Jerry Dipoto, the Diamondbacks' senior vice president of scouting and player development, for the position of president of baseball operations. The meeting is expected to take place this weekend. You can read more about Dipoto in this report from mlbtraderumors. Dipoto is the only confirmed candidate that the Orioles have contacted today. However, it appears that they're still hoping to sit down with Tony LaCava (Blue Jays), Dan Jennings (Marlins), De Jon Watson (Dodgers), Logan White (Dodgers) and Al Avila (Tigers). Avila could drop off the list if the Tigers continue their postseason run. The Orioles want to wrap up this process as soon as possible and they can't contact him until the Tigers are done playing. Also, I'm told that former Angels general manager Tony Reagins isn't likely to be contacted, but this is a fluid list. I'm only giving you his current status. A source also downplayed the chances that Thad Levine (Rangers) will be interviewed, saying he's not "part of it." Again, something could change, especially if the Orioles are denied permission by other teams.
