We've got a special treat for you on our 10th episode of the District 34 podcast: MASNsports.com's Nationals beat writer Mark Zuckerman calls in to the show!
With Byron Kerr out in Denver covering the Nats' series with the Rockies (and maybe or maybe not taking in some Broncos training camp), Mark was able to join me before he left for Atlanta. Our main talking point: the release of Jonathan Papelbon.
Due to previously scheduled time off last weekend, Mark was not able to give you, the fans, his take on the Nationals releasing the former closer on Saturday. So this will be an exclusive opportunity to hear what he has to say about Papelbon's time in D.C. and his sudden exit.
Aside from the Papelbon talk, Mark and I will also discuss the Nationals finishing their series in Denver later this afternoon and preview another matchup with the Braves. Stephen Strasburg takes the mound in today's finale against the Rockies. What does he need to do to get back on track for the final stretch of the season?
Also, there's a pretty interesting series on the horizon in the DMV. Mark and I will give some quick thoughts on the Nationals-Orioles rivalry as the Battle of the Beltways begins next week.
A lot of moving parts went into recording this episode of District 34, so I want to thank Mark for joining me and for his patience; I hope we get to hear from him more as the season winds down. Byron will be back next week to wrap up the Battle of the Beltways, but for now, enjoy this special 10th edition of District 34.
UPDATE: With some editing, Mark now sounds louder and cleaner. Hope you enjoy!
