Dylan Bundy gives up two runs over three innings for Bowie (updated)

BOWIE, Md. - Dylan Bundy showed similar velocity to his first start and a curveball that looked good at times Saturday, but the middle of the Erie Seawolves' order got to him in the top of the third inning.

After keeping Erie off the board in the first and second, he gave up two runs in the third. Bundy allowed four hits and the two runs with one walk and four strikeouts. He threw 56 pitches, 36 for strikes.

Bundy's fastball touched 94 and 95 mph on the stadium radar gun.

He gave up a one-out single and two-out walk in a scoreless first and then ended his 1-2-3 second inning with a strikeout on a big bending curveball.

With two outs and a runner on third in the third, he was close to recording a third straight scoreless inning, but he could not finish Erie off. The Seawolves' No. 3 hitter, Corey Jones, came up with an RBI double and No. 4 hitter Dean Green, batting .444, singled to give Erie a 2-1 lead.

Through six innings this year, Bundy has allowed four hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts. He pitched three scoreless and hitless innings on just 34 pitches Monday at Harrisburg in his season debut.

Bowie had provided Bundy with a 1-0 lead in the last of the first when Sean Halton and Mike McDade hit back-to-back doubles with two outs. However, he left trailing 2-1 as left-hander Ashur Tolliver came on to pitch in the top of the fourth.

The Baysox need a win tonight to get to 5-5 for the season.

Update: The Baysox trail 4-1 after six innings as Erie scored single runs in the fourth and fifth off Tolliver. Outfielder Glynn Davis, batting leadoff, is 2-for-3 for Bowie and has showed off his top speed tonight with a bunt single and a stolen base. He has five steals, but he was also thrown out once.

Baysox lose: Erie beat Bowie 5-2 tonight in front of 6,328 fans. The Baysox added a run in the last of the eighth on third baseman Jason Esposito's RBI single. He is 5-for-12 over his past three games after an 0-for-11 start at the Double-A level. The Baysox fall to 0-3 in this four-game series and to 4-6 for the season.

Wrapping up a 4-1 win
