Early opportunities lost (updated)

The Orioles put two runners on base with one out in the first inning on Brian Roberts' leadoff single and Derrek Lee's walk. Francisco Liriano retired the next two batters on a ground ball and called third strike. Jake Fox walked with one out in the second inning, but Matt Wieters grounded into a 5-4-3 double play. Again, the Orioles just can't seem to get that one big hit. Chris Tillman was much better in the third inning, retiring the side in order. He got two ground balls and struck out Jason Kubel. Jim Thome grounded out on a 92 mph fastball. Down on the farm, Nick Green has homered for the second time in two games for Triple-A Norfolk. Brendan Harris was ejected by the plate umpire, so I'll assume he was arguing balls and strikes. Brandon Waring has an RBI double for Double-A Bowie. Billy Rowell committed his first error at first base. Jonathan Schoop hit his second home run for Single-A Delmarva, which lost to Greensboro, 15-5. Trent Mummey stole his ninth base, but he also was thrown out twice. Manny Machado went 0-for-4. Updated: The Twins scored again in the fourth on Delmon Young's single, Michael Cuddyer's double and Danny Valencia's ground ball. Tillman has allowed 13 runs and 21 hits in 10 1/3 innings since no-hitting the Rays for six innings. Also, Nick Bierbrodt could be added to Norfolk's rotation. He's joined the Tides after throwing at extended spring training.
