Finishing up another workout

SARASOTA, Fla. - Most of the pitchers have come off the field and are in the weight room or eating lunch at their lockers. A group of position players are taking batting practice on the back fields. Luke Scott has trimmed his beard. He'll have to shave it off tomorrow morning. Vladimir Guerrero is still sporting his goatee. We'll see whether he shaves it off tomorrow morning. We're still waiting to see Guerrero hit on the field. Left-hander Alberto Castillo is on the minor league side of the clubhouse. I forgot that he re-signed over the winter and didn't receive a spring invite. The Orioles are going to adjust Luis Lebron's throwing program. I'll have more on it later, but the club is being cautious with Lebron because he's less than a year removed from undergoing ligament-reconstructive surgery on his right elbow. The most significant injury in camp involves Lee MacPhail, director of professional scouting, who fractured his right elbow while jogging Friday night. MacPhail tripped over a wire as he moved from the street to a sidewalk. The Orioles will place him on a slow progression scouting program, where he'll evaluate players from 45, 90 and 120 feet. Or not. The clubhouse is closed to the media tomorrow morning because of physicals and dental and eye exams. Players will take the field at noon for the first full-squad workout.
