Game 18 lineups: Nats at Orioles (updated)

BALTIMORE - The Nationals get back to work tonight seeking a series win for the first time since the July 30 "road" series at Nats Park against the Blue Jays.

The Orioles won 6-2 to complete a three-game sweep of the Nats when the two teams finished in Baltimore the series finale that was suspended Sunday at Nationals Park when a tangled tarp kept the grounds crew from keeping the field playable. But the Nats roared back to take the regularly scheduled game at Camden Yards 15-3.

After losing Starlin Castro as play resumed in the suspended game, and then Stephen Strasburg in the first inning of the regularly scheduled game, the Nats scored in six of the nine innings of the full game to roll past the Birds. Rookie Luis García had a single, a double, a run scored and two RBIs in his major league debut.

The Nats pounded out 19 hits, including three for Trea Turner and two apiece from Garcia, Adam Eaton, Juan Soto, Carter Kieboom, Yan Gomes and Victor Robles.

Tonight, the Nats turn to southpaw Patrick Corbin (2-0, 2.50 ERA), who has been their most consistent starter to begin the 2020 season. Corbin allowed two runs (one earned) over six innings, with five hits, two walks and four strikeouts in a 16-4 win over the Mets Monday night at Citi Field. This will be Corbin's third career start against the Orioles (four appearances). He has an 0-1 record with a 3.38 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP with 20 strikeouts in 16 innings.

The Orioles turn to right-hander Asher Wojciechowski (0-2, 3.95), who pitched 3 2/3 shutout innings Sunday against the Nats, allowing three hits with two walks, four strikeouts and one hit-by-pitch. He did not factor in the decision.

Updated: Howie Kendrick is not in the starting lineup. Martinez says there is no nagging injury, it is just a rest day. Juan Soto to the No. 3 hole is a more of a function of moving everyone up one in the lineup instead of a strategy change, according to Martinez. But if Soto produces as he will at No. 3, and it comes with more runners on base, maybe Martinez will stick with this option in the future.
